Server’s back online – for now.

I had UT 99 and UT 2004 “GMC” style servers running, I guess, 3 years ago. Briefly. I’ve got them running again, IP address listed on the right side of the site.

The process of getting them online and functional was significantly more difficult than I remembered.

Back in the day, we had a fair number of UT servers up and running throughout the community and I helped set up and manage many of them.

I used to be able to building a server config file in my sleep. Nothing has changed except my memory.

I came to the realization today that my redirect server (for download maps, textures, and sound files to the users) was not functional. Once I got it working, I realized I didn’t have all the correct files compressed and uploaded to the redirect.

I’m in the process of building a library of maps for UT 99 and UT 2004 (UT 2003 maps worked fine with UT2K4, so they’ll be on the list.

As the years pass, it is getting more and more difficult to source information and files.

Many of the old sites that contained this data are long gone and some that do still exist have dead links and missing files.

As winter sets in, maybe I’ll get something accomplished.

73 for now

  2. I came across some old screenshots of game victories of SDK vs CBGB and that lead me down the rabbit hole of the good ‘ol days playing the giant maps with you guys. Happy to see this site alive and to recall the names of the friends and rivals. Thanks again for setting this up back in the day, it was a core memory for sure! – {SDK} JDK
